Description

If you’ve been on the hunt for a stylish, highly portable, and feature-packed gaming laptop, look no further: the Acer Predator Triton 500 is an excellent choice. It does not matter what configuration you choose. It remains one of the best gaming laptops because of its well-built, portable, and feature-packed design.

Design and Display

Despite the blue-and-silver glowing Predator logo stamped on the lid, the black metal chassis of the Triton 500 is simple and minimalist in design. The black hood of the Triton 500 looks more premium than most gaming laptops thanks to its sandblasted metal finish. Despite the thin bezel on display, the webcam somehow still seems to fit within the top bezel rather than being placed elsewhere.

Despite its limitations in color gamut, Acer’s 15.6-inch display still looks stunning on its own. On the other hand, it is highly accurate in its color reproduction and has good brightness that is enough to light up even the darkest room. Its screen’s refresh speed is another unique feature. Regardless of which triton 500 models you pick up, you will always get a 1080p/300 Hz display. Therefore, you are only limited to 300 frames per second.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The Acer Predator Triton 500’s keyboard seems a bit underwhelming to me in terms of physical design. It’s great to have different lighting for each key, though. There are 17 different presets that you can pick from, or you can granularly customize each key in the PredatorSense app. Besides the flow rate and direction, You can customize the lighting as well.

The 4.1 x 2.7-inch touchpad does seem a little sticky at times when coming into contact with my sweaty hands. However, even if it wasn’t sticky, there would still be no place to rest my palm while using the touchpad embedded into the chassis.

Graphics Card

The primary difference between the GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q and its predecessor is the additional number of shaders. The successor has a modest boost in performance with an extra 3072 CUDA cores than the previous 2,944 cores. However, there hasn’t been any significant change in clock speeds. It uses a 256-bit interface and has an 8 GB GDDR6 video memory.

Performance

With its Intel Core i7-10875H processor and 32GB of RAM, the Predator Triton 500 is as good as it gets. One of the most novel aspects of Acer’s 512GB SSD is its ability to copy 4.97GB of data at 1,403 megabytes per second, far exceeding the gaming laptop average (1,207 MBps). Using the HandBrake benchmark, the Triton 500 encoded a 4K video to 1080p in 7 minutes, 37 seconds, almost one minute quicker than the industry average of 8:24. This Triton PT515-52-73L3 uses its solid hardware to its maximum advantage when gaming.

Its maximum clock rate is higher than that of the old Core i7-9750H at 5.0GHz instead of 4.5GHz, which should lead to increased performance. In practice, however, the processor’s turbo mode doesn’t quite reach its full potential. There are many games you can play on your laptop. It reaches frame rates of 100+ fps for every game at Ultra graphics settings and impressive performance.

Battery life

Considering that this laptop is high-end, the runtimes are extremely respectable. It does not need to hide behind the competition when it is able to surf the Internet for just over 6 hours via WLAN with medium display brightness. The competition. It is possible to use the 84Wh battery for nearly eight hours under ideal conditions. You can only expect a runtime of one hour when using the monitor for gaming every day at maximum brightness.

9.3Expert Score
Its solid overall performance, glossy 300 Hz screen, and timeless design make it an excellent gaming laptop. This laptop has a middle battery life and a keyboard that can run hot, but these aren't enough to prevent you from buying it. The other specs are excellent, and Acer offers several different models if you need a more powerful machine.
