Acer has recently introduced a new lineup named the “X” series, which is highly focused on content creation. Some people might be thinking it can be a suitable device due to the dedicated graphics card. But this is not the reality because the company has used underclocked graphics, which is restricted under 40W. In this section, we will be discussing more on this laptop. So, without wasting any more time, let’s move to the main point!
Display & Build
If you are a content creator, which is the primary component you look at? Yes, this is none other than display. The laptop features an elegant 14-inch Full HD IPS display at 1920 x 1080p resolution. The good thing is that it brings perfect color calibration, supporting up to 100% sRGB coverage and 300-nits brights. It produces vibrant and high-contrast visuals helping you to maintain color accuracy while creating content. Undoubtedly, this is a very good quality panel, and I bet you won’t regret picking it for the sake of content creation.
In terms of build quality, it is made of strong metallic material, which gives it a premium appearance. The body is very slim and lightweight. But at the same time, it sacrifices some important ports, such as an SD card reader and additional slots for memory expansion to maintain the portable design. Overall, the build quality is exceptionally well maintained, making it one of the lightest Windows laptops by weighing only 3.31 lbs.
This is the matric which every one of you eagerly waiting to know. There are some people with confusion about whether this laptop is gaming-centric or not. I want to clarify that the laptop is mainly focused on content creation. Yes, of course, you can do some light gaming. But it is unable to handle high-end games due to the underclocked RTX 3050Ti graphics card, which arrives with a dedicated 4GB VRAM. Besides, the laptop is powered by a powerful octa-core AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor with a base clock speed of 1.9GHz, which goes up to 4.4GHz. Compared to 5800H, it clocks at a lower speed, and TDP is set to 15W.
These restrictions don’t allow it to capitalize full performance. Subsequently, it doesn’t get heat more often and is suitable for serving underpowered laptops. Furthermore, the laptop packs 16GB DDR4 RAM coupled with 512GB SSD storage. Unfortunately, you can’t expend the RAM & storage as there is no additional slot available. All in all, this laptop gets a decent amount of power to handle content creation tasks, such as video editing, 3D rendering, photo editing, and many others.
I/O Ports & Battery Life
As we have discussed earlier, due to the slim form factors, some ports are missing. Starting from the right side, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port along with a USB 3.2 Type-C port, which supports up to 15W power supply & DisplayPort along with a 3.5mm Audio Jack. The left side gets another USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, an HDMI port, and a DC-in port with a 65W power supply. Apart from that, the laptop supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 to enhance connectivity.
Regarding the battery life, it is loaded with a 4-cell 59Whrs of battery, which promises to deliver up to 14 hours of battery as per the company’s claim. But after analyzing the real-world usage, customers have reported 5-6 hours of battery life, which is just fine for a Windows laptop.
