The Asus Zebook series is widely popular for its fantastic design and portability. Not only portable design but there are several other factors that make it a considerable option under the price range of $1000. The newly launched Zenbook 13 gets several improvements in processing power as well as some minor changes in the design.
Display & Design
The Asus Zenbook 13 comes with a 13.3-inch inch Full HD OLED display, which is the major highlight of this laptop. Being an OLED panel, it produces rich and contrast-rich color production, giving vivid and natural visuals. Further, it adds 400-nits brightness, which is more than enough for outdoor visibility. Apart from that, it is a color-accurate panel with nearly 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, making it a decent option for productivity tasks, such as photo editing, video editing, and so on. Overall, it doesn’t compromise display quality.
In terms of design, it is a highly portable machine made of a strong metal-metal unibody design. The display bezels are too narrow giving them an impressive appearance. Other than that, around 0.55″ of thickness is just amazing for any laptop. Last but not least, the laptop weighs around 2.45 lbs making it one of the lightest laptops available around the world. It will worth mentioning that its body is certified by military standards to prove its ruggedness.
Regarding the performance, the laptop is powered by the latest 11th generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 Processor with a base clock speed of 2.8GHz. The chipset belongs to Intel’s powerful Tiger Lake series and is built on the latest 10nm SuperFin technology. In day-to-day usage, it performs very well and you can run all the necessary applications for heavy multitasking. Apart from that, there is an integrated Iris XE Graphics to handle the graphics-intensive tasks. However, you can’t play high-end games, but it is well capable of handling light gaming.
As far as storage is concerned, it packs 512GB of PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD storage, which is non-upgradable for sure. I don’t think there should be any problem with storing large files. In case you need more space, you can use the external hard drive, which is available at a cheaper price nowadays. The memory department is taken care of by the 16GB DDR4 RAM. The latest addition of DDR4 memory is very fast and works at high frequencies. Collectively, the laptop performs very well even in odd situations to fulfill its core purpose.
Connectivity & Ports
Starting with the I/O ports, there are two faster USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports along with a USB 3.2 Type-A port, making it total 3 USB ports on either side. Other necessary ports include HDMI 2.0, and an SD card reader. Unfortunitely, there is no RJ45 ethernet port, neither a 3.5mm audio jack to retain its portability. But the good thing is that both the USB Type-C ports support fast charging to let this laptop charge very quickly. Other than that, all the necessary connectivity options are there, such as WiFi 6, Bluetooth, etc.
The battery is another criteria where this laptop shines subsequently. Asus claims to deliver up to 13 hours of battery life for its 67 Whrs battery. But the claim is not true, at least in our case. We got around 10 hours of video playback, nearly 7-8 hours of web browsing, and equally good running time in several other casual apps. So, the laptop offers a very good battery life, which can easily last your full day, if you are working out of your home. Another good thing is that the laptop further adds fast charging support, which lets this laptop charge rapidly, around 60% of charging is less than 50 minutes.
